US Forces Struck a 'Major Plant' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Without Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that American forces targeted a "major installation" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the former president did not specify the precise purpose or site of the strike, and there has been no additional clarification from his camp.

Unspecific Comments Offered In a Talk Show

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a big plant, where the vessels come from. The other night, we knocked that out. So we struck them decisively," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Strike

Should a US military action were to be verified, it would represent the first land strike since the Pentagon began a expansion of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The stated objective of the military buildup has transformed into a blockade aimed at disrupting the nation's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks warned that American military units are prepared to expand the military campaign by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require congressional approval.

Video footage posted online on 24 December appeared to show an detonation reportedly from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. But, the footage or the facility has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a media outlet that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Current Military Situation

The Caracas administration has not commented on the incident Trump described. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of US military in the region – a stance certain officials have referred to as a maritime "quarantine" – constitutes the most expansive naval operation of his time in office.

Administration officials have refrained from labeling the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that about 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current economic sanctions.
